concerns
I am concerned that my paper is not clear enough. I tried to make the problem and solution part of the paper very clear, but the justification part is going to need some more work. So i would just like some feedback on that. Also, i would like to know if the paper is clear enough and not too wordy because i usually have a problem with that.

A major issue around campus, considering we have an open campus, is security. People who are not apart of the University of South Carolina can easily wander onto campus at any given moment. This can lead to left, abduction, violence, and sexual abuse. The university needs to make it harder to access campus for people who have no need to be on campus, or maybe create more of those police polls. The university probably has not tried to heighten security due the the steep cost and the probable complaints from people.
Three perspectives would be the people trying to stop poaching and extinction, another would be the people who have grown up hunting animals in order to keep their society running, and the other is which way to best control poaching and the endangerment of species. The strongest is the one for people trying to stop poaching and extinction.
I need to document more sources.
I thought the conference was very helpful.

Planning essay 4
There in then the people who strive daily to protect the magnificent creatures on the earth who face extinction in the near future.
These people usually are for species not being endangered, but they also can sympathize with the side that needs these animals in order to maintain a functioning society in which to live and grow.
Some cultures were only able to survive through the killing of animals, and that is still true with many tribes or indigenous tribes around the globe.
I am probably going to write a proposal paper more than a policy. My topic is more about taking a stand or acting in order to help the cause.
I may do a little bit more research in order to make sure i have enough accurate information regarding the topic.
Solution:
My paper will probably be a proposal paper because i have more ideas as to what we should do than anything else. Therefore, i can strongly represent the side that is trying to prevent that is trying to stop the animals from becoming extinct.

I changed the overall structure of my paper in a big way. I decided to to have a longer introduction followed by the different views concerning the topic which i did not originally have.
The strongest element of my paper is how well i can convey the side that cares for the animals and the difference between the side that does not care for them nor believe in extinction.
I am concerned that the only side i have good information or enough information on is the people who do not try to help endangered species or species that are on the verge of being extinct, and that i did not pick a good enough topic that has two equal sides because most people want to protect animals as well as like these animals.

The Sides of Animal Poaching and Possible Extinction
The hunting and harvesting of animals for food and resources has been going on since the beginning of time. Ancient civilizations have relied on animals and the trade of animals for profit. Although hundreds of years ago no one believed that these animals would ever become extinct. This is an ever present issue in today’s world where poaching has drastically grown and species are not able to sustain a high enough number to protect them from becoming endangered, and as a result some species are on the brink of extinction. There are those whose civilization has been hunting indigenous species unique to their area for centuries, and they have used these animals as a means of life, food, and profit. Therefore, the aspect of not hunting specific animals is hard to fathom. There then are those who believe that many species are becoming extinct due to poaching, lack of care or protection, lack of natural habitat, and hunting for food or clothing purposes. These people are trying to raise awareness and stop poaching or hunting of certain species in order to preserve them on this planet. Some people are indifferent to the issue and continue to live their lives as if this is not an issue for them; however, they still may show some interest or sympathy for the animals that are on the verge of extinction.
The thought of animal cruelty and poaching is abstract for most African cultures because many were founding and sustained by hunting, and this worked out peacefully for centuries until people began hunting more than was produced. Some cultures were only able to survive through the killing of animals, and that is still true with many tribes or indigenous tribes around the globe. People argue against organizations they are trying to protect certain animals because these groups of people need these food and resources that come from these certain animals in order to maintain a productive and stable way of life. So these people feel it is unjust for them to be outlawed from the hunting of these animals. It is also true that the same people who rely on these animals for fundamental materials believe that poaching just for the soul purpose of money is unethical. All in all the people who do not think that hunting some close to extinct species is all that bad because it is what they know and in most cases it is tradition in the older cultures of the world.
There in then the people who strive daily to protect the magnificent creatures on the earth who face extinction in the near future. Organizations, groups, website, charities, and all sorts of funds have been put in place in order to protect the animals which face this threat.
Poaching seems to be one of the keys issues concerning extinction around the globe. Poaching is the hunting or killing of animals for trade. Trading includes selling these animals to buyers through various black markets. Some people kill animals just to obtain a part of that specific animal. Animals such as the rhino, which are sometimes killed solely for their horn, are under this category along with elephants that are hunted for ivory. There are some companies in Asian countries that trap and kill animals such as dolphins and whales, and the United Sates has no control over international affairs of this nature.
Excessive hunting is also a primary cause in the recent number of animal species that are becoming extinct. Animals are not able to produce as fast as humans are able to kill. Animals such as whales, rhinos, elephant, lions, tigers, bears, and all sorts of big cats are under this category and these are some of the main animals on the planet that would be detrimental to lose. These predatory animals help keep the other animal populations in order and in turn keep those animals away from peoples crops. Animals such as turtles are becoming extinct through all sorts of factors such as oil spills, loss of habitat, fishing nets, and even poaching. Many countries have started trying to outlaw poaching and hunting of endangered animals. It just is a matter of time before we find out if these laws and regulations were made too late.
As in most cases or issues in today’s world, there are those who are indifferent to the topic. They know it is present but would prefer to ignore what is going on. These people usually are for species not being endangered, but they also can sympathize with the side that needs these animals in order to maintain a functioning society in which to live and grow. Most people these people usually would suggest that laws be put into place and people who are poaching these animals or causing populations to decrease do to question reasons. They also feel that the people who need to continue to hunt animals be able to do so. These people also have little affect or anything to do with the topic which makes them fairly irrelevant to the subject of extinction or endangered species as well as poaching.
The topic of extinction and endangered species is sure to arouse people for some time to come. There will always be those to fight for these animals, and there will continue to be people who poach and hunt down species regardless of if they are endangered or not. It is also true that some cultures and tribes still live off of these animals, and there will surely be those who find the topic meaningless. Either way certain animal groups and species are diminishing. Some are dying off at a quicker rate than others. There are species that are even down to the hundreds in overall population. Poaching will continue to happen. So it is up to organizations or people who are dedicated to protecting these animals in order to save them from extinction. Same goes for people who rely on certain animals. In the end only time will tell what is to become of the issue and until then it is up to the people of the planet to pick a side and take a stand.

Owings, Margaret W. "The Right to Sustainability: The Story of the Southern Sea Otter." Update on Law-Related Education. Fall 1993: 37-43.SIRS Issues Researcher. Web. 03 Nov 2011.
This source is very straightforward about Owing's feelings in regard to sea otters. She obviously is against the people who have anything to do with the endangerment or decrease of these animals, and wants to stop them at all costs. This is directed ti anyone who is for the protection of sea otters and support animal preservation around the globe. The article basically covers the wrong doing of fur trading that caused a steep decline in otter population. It also covers her organization to protect these creatures, and how this can be applied to all animals that are having difficult. As well as the continuous problems with over fishing, oil spills, and fur trade that still exist. I agree with the authors claims and her position on the topic at hand as well as learning more about the subject in regards to sea otters. This is another source that shows the continual injustice of animals and can be applied in most circumstances in regard to my topic.

The text again deals with the topic of poaching. The affect it has had on African wildlife has been detrimental in past years, but the bringing about of acts, laws, law enforcement, and regulations has been helpful in bringing back animals that use to graze these lands. Many people have included these animals in their traditions and cultures, and they have been around for centuries if not longer. Therefore, the recent severe decrease in animals that are indigenous to Africa has upset many people. The people who have been affected by poaching and hunting have tried to stop these themselves and have gotten the government involved. This may be the best defense for animal regulations.
International Business Times. Javan Rhino Poached to Extinction in Vietnam. International Business Times, Tue, 25 Oct 2011
The Javan rhino has recently become extinct in Vietnam. The last one had been found dead on the ground with its horn cut off. Many people would blame the Vietnamese government for not putting forth enough effort in regards to the matter, but regardless it should have been a collective effort by the Vietnamese. Some people believe that these rhino horn are helping cure cancer although it has not actually been proved by doctors. However, Javan rhinos still exist in Indonesia and South Africa, but there numbers are still very low. Organizations such as the World Wildlife Federation and International Rhino Foundation arte trying their best to preserve these magnificent creatures, but it is in turn up to the people to save them.
Fimrite, Peter. "U.S. agrees to list Pacific sea turtle as endangered species." San Francisco Chronicle 17 Sept. 2011: C2. Gale Opposing Viewpoints In Context. Web. 8 Nov. 2011.
Pacific sea turtles have recently been moved from being listed as threatened to being listed as endangered, and primarily the different species of loggerhead sea turtles. A cause for the newly titled endangered species is due to poaching, fishing, unprotected or poor habitat, oil spills, and trash. These animals live anywhere from southern California, Japan, Mexico, and Taiwan in where they give birth or migrate. It is said that the most potent cause in the decline of these turtles is the huge oceangoing fishing nets that catch these turtles and causes them to drown. It has also been reported that most of these ships are that of Japan and Taiwan which means that the U.S. has little to no control over this catastrophe. The most startling fact is that these sea turtles have decreased by 80% in the past decade.
Severin, Arsene. "Congo: Poachers Feel the Long Arm of the New Law." Global Information Network. 26 Aug 2011: n.p. SIRS Issues Researcher. Web. 08 Nov 2011.
This article deals with the recent increase in awareness and law enforcement in the Republic of Congo. The author is clearly for the protection of endangered species and the prosecution of all who are breaking laws towards these animals. This article is directed at people who are for animal protection, and want to make sure that action is being taken towards poaching and people trafficking animal parts. The Republic of Congo’s message is that countries need to start taking in stand when it comes to law enforcement, and the protection of its animals. Usually people who were caught poaching or trafficking were given a few hundred dollar fine, and now they are given a long jail sentence and thousands in fines. Naturally this has helped to decrease the number of people who are breaking laws towards these endangered species. I agree with the authors claims that this strict enforcement will have a lasting impact and should be applied by more countries around the world.
Burd, Stephen. “ Governement Plans Survey to Support Endangered Species Act.” The Chronicle. March 31, 1993.
The goal of this article is to show that American’s, even though it was eighteen years ago, were already experiencing problems in regards to endangered species. Thankfully, they the government was already beginning the Endangered Species Act and enforcing it. Most of the problems discussed in this article involve the regulation of where developers can or cannot develop land. This is an ongoing issue today and some animals are truly running out of space to habitat due to huge companies developing large tracks of land that some animals use as a home.
"Groups File Lawsuit to Prevent Illegal Deaths of Endangered Whales." Targeted News Service [TNS] 1 Nov. 2011. Student Edition. Web. 8 Nov. 2011.
Conservation and animal protection groups have filed a law suit asking the federal court of Massachusetts to hold the National Marine Fisheries Service accountable for the continuance of four federal fisheries that injure and kill endangered whales, which also includes the highly endangered right whale. These whales are getting caught up in nets and fishing gear, it can cause death due to drowning or wounds. It has been reported that whales are increasingly becoming entangled in this equipment and in some cases causing these endangered whales to die. The right whale is almost extinct so even one death can contribute greatly to their chances of becoming extinct. However, it is productive and promising to see lawsuits filed against companies who are killing or injuring any sort of endangered species.
Fears, Darryl. "Loss of Predatory Animals Is Causing a Boom in Prey." Washington Post. 15 Jul 2011: A.3. SIRS Issues Researcher. Web. 08 Nov 2011.
The recent decline in large predators such as lions, whales, wolves, sharks, types of big cats, and herbivores has led to an increase in prey that is throwing off the natural world and this is having an effect on humans. Many have already experienced the effect of this. The loss of these big predators has meant that the smaller animals are beginning to feed off many peoples crops, effecting local markets and water systems. Hopefully, this can still be repaired and fixed, but if we cannot help to preserve these endangered species then this could potentially be catastrophic in the long run.

A. My issue is the affects and moral injustices that are due to the extinction, endangerment, poaching practices, and continual decrease in certain animals species. Endangered species is becoming an evermore present problems in today's world. Some species that people know and love are dwindling down day by day, and a significant factor of this is poaching and human affects to these animals and their habitats. Many people sell animals on the black market, and even sell specific animal parts. Some animals such as lions and tigers that are decreasing have an impact on how much some species grow due to these animals not being hunted down with results in overpopulation in some cases.
B. Many people have a stance when it comes to this issue. Some people argue that killing certain animals, although it is still causing harm to the species, is a necessary requirement in order to live. For example in smaller countries where people have to hunt for food. Some people's entire income is a result of poaching, although it is ethically wrong. There are those who are all for protecting these endangered species and are trying to help animals on the brink of extinction. There are organizations and groups whose sole purpose is to protect the endangerment of animals, and many people donate money to the causes around the world.
C. There are the people and governments who take action towards stopping poaching. There are even laws that have been set in place around the world. Some people would argue that It is necessary to kill these animals for personal reasons and for valuable resources. These would be the people who believe that poaching is not entirely bad. Then there are the organizations and groups who are trying to raise awareness about the issue. I guess the next group would be between the people who support trying to help animals and the people who are just indifferent to the cause.
D. I personally think that animal injustice is morally and ethnically wrong. Endangered species should be protected and poachers should be prosecuted. I believe that extinction is a serious problem and could eventually occur to some animals in the near future if they are not protected.

in class writing assignment
The problem is that animal preservation throughout the world is becoming less important and that species are rapidly dwindling down.
It is important because these are amazing animals that are being hunting, poached, or becoming extinct and something needs to be done.
The people affected are the people of the earth who love animals and are trying to help all the species in danger of becoming extinct, or people who want to end poaching.
People might disagree that there are plenty of animals on the planet and that only a few species are becoming extinct, and one also might argue that the killing of these animals are necessary in the sense that items can be collected from their body for for or money selling purposes.

The article is very satirical and is trying to get the point across that people are becoming more so lazy than ever when it comes to reading anything. The author goes to extremes to show how not being able to find a shortcut is really affecting the lives or people who are attempting to read this article. Although this is a funny article, it tackles a real problem that we face today which is the lack of effort that people put forth in their lives when it comes to having to focus or actually try to figure something out.
The hyperbole, i believe, is the repetitiveness of satire which is basically what the entire article is consisted of. The use of constant satire really gets across the entire point of the article, and does inspire one to keep reading. However you look at it, people are becoming to technology dependent and always looking for a short way out. Which is what the author is expressing in this piece.
